The Business Innovation Stream

3. Provide proof of your business success of at least AUD 750,000 turnover in each of those 2 years.
Whether you have 1 or 2 businesses, you must own at least:
51%, of the total value of the business if the business has a turnover of less than AUD400,000 per year
30%, of the total value of the business if the business has a turnover of AUD400,000 or more per year, or
10%, of the total value of the business if the business is operated by a publicly listed company
4. Total net business and personal assets of at least:
AUD 1.25 million if you were invited to apply on or after 1 July 2021.
Your funds must be available to transfer to Australia within 2 years of us granting the visa.
Business turnover of $750,000 per year
5. You must be nominated by an Australian State or Territory government agency.
6. Reside in Australia at least 1 year
7. Under 55 years old
The Significant Investor Stream
1. Submit Expression of Interest
2. Invest at least AUD 5 million in Australian investments that meet certain requirements and maintain investment activity in Australia.
3. Be invited to apply for this visa
4. Be nominated by a State or Territory government agency or Austrade to invest at least AUD 5 million that meets certain requirements and have a genuine intention to hold that investment for at least for 5 years.
5. Have a genuine intention to live in the State of Territory whose government agency nominates you.
The Entrepreneur Stream
1. Submit Expression of Interest
2. Carry out the entrepreneurial activity in Australia.
3. Funding agreement with a third party to carry out entrepreneurial activities.
4. Have at least competent English.
5. Be endorsed by an Australian State or Territory government agency.
6. Min investment $100,000
the number of Australian citizens and permanent residents employed
the level and nature of ongoing funding and investment in the activities
the annual turnover of the business activities
any endorsement of your successful entrepreneurial activities by a start-up incubator, start-up accelerator or other body that assists start-up businesses, that is recognised by the nominating State or Territory government agency.
Corporate Tax
All companies are subject to a federal tax rate of 30% on their taxable income, except for ‘small or medium business’ companies, which are subject to a reduced tax rate of 25%. The reduced tax rate applies only to those companies that, together with certain 'connected' entities, fall below the aggregated turnover threshold of AUD 50 million.
Bank Account
Can set up online bank first when client still overseas, but account won't activate until client present with proof of ID and proof of address.

Yes, can extend for another 2 years
2. For investment route, is there a list of funds to choose from?
We are dealing with that on client’s engagement offering options for funds according to clients choice for their informed decision
3. The Investor Stream – how long does client need to hold the investment?
The designated investment will have to be held continuously in the name of the applicant for 4 years while applicant is a holder of 188 visa.
4. How long does Significant Investor Stream need to reside in Australia?
Reside in Australia for at least 40 days per year for the 4-year period.
5. The Business Innovation Stream, what's the minimum days to reside in Australia?
You must have lived in Australia as a subclass 188 holder under the Investor Stream for a total of at least 2 years in the 4 years immediately prior to lodging your 888 visa. The 2 year period in Australia does not need to be continuous.
6. What's the difference between 190 & 491 subclasses?
190 PR, 491 provisional
7. The Business Innovation Stream – what’s the minimum sum for a client to start a business in Australia? For this stream, the criteria is to meet 2 of the following 3:
Have invested net AUD$200,000 into the Australian business
Have net personal/business assets combined of AUD$600,000 in Australia
For the 12 months prior to application, employ 2 full-time employees in the Australian business
8. The only difference between Significant Investor Stream and Investor Stream?
An additional difference is that the Investor stream requires an investment of at least AUD2.5 million, while the amount for the Significant Investor stream is AUD5 million. The Significant Investor stream has no business history or experience requirements, no (soft) age requirement, no English requirement. Only ownership of $5mil assets and ability to prove source of funds.
9. Does acquiring a company shares, can get a business visa then can apply PR after 3 or 5 years?
This depends on the relevant stream, which would not be suitable for the Investor or Significant Investor to meet 888C requirements. For the Business Innovation stream, company shares are suitable, but need to show that they are actively managing the business as part of 888A criteria, not just a passive investor/owner.
